Christmas Coffee

Dear Friends - Just wanted you to know how much I value

your friendship.

You really are the cream in my coffee - and, if you know me well,

that's AN AWFUL LOT of cream.

I'm hoping you are enjoying these pre-Christmas days -

shopping, card-writing, gift-wrapping, and,

hopefully, a time for baking/eating cookies

with coffee.

And that's the kind of day it is here at Casa Collinsworth.

We all have days like that, I'm sure.

There are so many sad or maddening things going on in the world and,

on days like today, I wish I didn't know about any of them.

However, ostrich-like behavior is not going to solve any of the worlds problems

- or mine either - so I'm going to go make some more coffee

and carry on.

BUT...........

What do you think of the following statement?

I think it's true.

Maybe life is just too short......period !!!

So why is it so easy for us all to just waste so much time?

Just because we are now retired, doesn't mean we have

all the time in the world.

Retirement just fools you into feeling that way.

So if your coffee cup - like ours - calls on you to take a journey

(even if it's just down memory lane) - GO !!!

Don't ever pass up the chance to have an adventure.

And, if you're as fortunate as we are, and have family and friends

who you love and cherish, don't ever miss a chance to say

"I Love You".

Coffee on the Beach

Today Jim and I are wishing that we were sharing some

wonderful  iced coffee with our Colorado daughter -

maybe while sitting on the beach in San Diego or Kauai - so,

gorgeous brilliant daughter who slays one dragon at

a time with her stethoscope,

this thought is for you - with love.

And gratitude for the tremendous service you

are providing to those less fortunate than ourselves.

You are a truly admirable person, mother, and daughter.

Am I the only person around who can absolutely

SWOON

at the smell of coffee ??

Yes.....SWOON !!!!!

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee

is one of those little pleasures -

and it's free.

I will admit that, sometimes,

the coffee itself may not live up to the aroma.

I don't claim to be any kind of a coffee expert but,

when I don't like the coffee, 

I really don't like the coffee.

Whoa.....have I become (gasp, horrors).

a Coffee Snob ????

Why, yes - I think that might be true !!!!

How about you ?

1.  Do you avoid coffee at gas stations, mini-markets,

and 24 hour restaurants ??

2.  Do you cringe at the thought of coffee in a Styrofoam cup. 

Yeah, I thought so.

I personally prefer my coffee made by a 'barista'.

And, if that word means nothing to you,

you may need to go back to numbers 1 and 2 above.

And I am sorry for your stomach

and your palate.

Who wouldn't drool over an aromatic cup of coffee

with a gorgeous design or picture on the top.

YUM....DOUBLE SWOON !!!

OK - I really just want you all to know that 

I LOVE COFFEE.

Coffee with My Friend

SAVOR EACH MOMENT

The first day of retirement began with coffee in a delicate bone china cup carrying the image of a Hummingbird. I couldn't start this new journey in a more meaningful way.  This cup was a parting gift from a beloved co-worker and friend.  And it symbolizes so many things.  The Hummingbird is a symbol of love, joy and beauty.  This delicate creature can fly backwards, teaching us that we can look back on our past but we must not dwell on it.  We need to move forward.  When a Hummingbird hovers over a flower, we learn that we should savor each moment and appreciate all the things we love.

How fortunate I am to have a friend who things so highly of me and who treasures my friendship as I do hers. I read somewhere that we should not let people "run through our lives in a blur - but take the time to see them, really see them."  So here's to my friend who really saw me and loves me in spite of my imperfections.  This day, and this cup of coffee, are for you.
